The Potomac AND Northern Virginia Flute Circles Home Page * * * * * * * * * *

There are two cooperating flute circles in the Washington and Northern Virginia areas. These two circles meet a total of twice a month in various locations - they are the Potomac and the Northern Virginia Flute Circles - both are recognized by the INAFA organization.

If you live in the Washington DC and Northern Virginia area and play the Native American flute, or are interested in learning about it, meeting other players, makers and enthusiasts, please feel free to visit and join either or both of these circles!.

The Potomac Flute Circle meets on the third Saturday of each month. Meetings are from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.

Meetings are held in various members homes and parks - depending on the weather the locations vary for the other months. You need to join the mail list to receive regular announcements about the dates, times and locations for each meeting.

The next Potomac Flute Circle meeting is in Clarksburg, MD on July 19.

The fifth annual Potomac Native American Flute Festival was held the weekend of February 22-24, 2008 at the Montgomery College in Rockville, MD. Unfortunately, due to weather and the college closing for the day, workshops and the evening concert with Mark Holland and Autumn's Child were canceled. After that night, the featured performers included:

The fourth annual Potomac Native American Flute Festival was held February 23-25, 2007. It was a great success with over 85 workshop participants, several hundred concert attendees (each night), over a dozen flute vendors and 14 workshops.

Friday Evening Concert: Flute Maker and Flute Player Michael Graham Allen (of Coyote Oldman), World-Famous Didgeridoo Player Ash Dargan, and the Ron Warren Band.

A Saturday afternoon concert featured Native American Flute Player and Flute Maker Hawk Henries.

Saturday Evening Concert: Electric Violin Player Extraordinaire Arvel Bird and the Jeff Ball Band.

There were dual-tracked workshops on Saturday to include beginner and advanced playing workshops. Over a dozen flute makers and other Native American vendors displayed and sold their wares.
